But now on my windows 7 desktop, under network management I have my router network, and underneath that it says unidentified network that is public. If I unplug my Ethernet cable from the router that connects to my computer it disappears. But when I reconnect it it appears.

My problem was solved by deleting my DHCP listing form the network. Funny thing is, I had a reservation for 192.168.1.100, but when I looked there were 2 listings for my workstation. 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.9. Jul 11, 2017 · I also went into the Local Group Policy Editor > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Network List Manger and I changed the settings to make Unidentified Networks respond as private networks (this was an idea on other discussion boards). This did not change anything either. I also put my computer on the same vlan and ran a network scanner. It seems your system isn't getting an IP via DHCP from your network, and without that info it can't identify the network, which is why Windows is saying "Unidentified network". Try rebooting your router and/or replacing the Ethernet cable.

My wireless: My wireless network is protected using WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK). I have changed the SSID and Passwords and have looked at my router's DHCP table and the only computers listed there are my personal computers. I have 2 unidentified devices on my network that have been on the network for almost a year. According to the MAC addresses (they start with CC:4E:EC) they are both made by Humax. After some research I see that Humax makes lots of devices but I don't see anything that I have.
